Night fishing during summer months is a great option for Smith Mountain Lake.
When the temperature gets warmer largemouth and smallmouth bass move to shallow water. The daily creel limit is 5 fish per day. You may catch 2 fish less than 14 inches.
Striped bass are mostly found in the lower portions of the lake. During the period from June 1 to October 3, you may catch 2 fish with no length limits. From November 1 to May 31 there is a slot limit (30-40 inches) for striped bass.
