The period from February to March is the best fishing time in the Latrobe River. In summer months it is better to go fishing in the afternoon.
Due to high water clarity a light fluorocarbon leader is a good choice. A light graphite 1-3kg spin rod matched up with a quality 1000-2000 spin reel works amazing for trout. Move up the river and cast the bait against the current to catch a trout.
Waders can be very useful in the Latrobe River. It will give you a possibility to fish in deep water and get lures a little from the shores.
